:

A native of Cuba, he has evolved over the centuries from the pampered lapdog of the aristocracy into what he is today - The quintessential family pet of a people living
on a small tropical island. His duties traditionally have been those of companion, watchdog, child's playmate and herder of the family poultry flock.  When these playful pups first
came to this country they were in the rare breed category.  It has not taken long for this breed to become much loved as the family dog and now all the major companies register them.
Our Havanese pups come from impressive breeding lines.  Playful and alert, the Havanese is both trainable and intelligent with a sweet, non-quarrelsome disposition.
Nicknamed the "clown dog", they are most entertaining.

For the health and safety of our pups, they will be shown only to those seriously interested in adding a new
puppy to their family.  Pups are shown ONLY by appointment.  You may make one by E-mailing

Our pups leave our home but remain in our hearts.  Their humans continue to send pix and letters
and we LOVE watching them grow.  We place pictures of them on our Testimonial page,
our Top Knotch Knews page and our Silly Pictures page.  Please visit these pages and enjoy
!!!

1-26-10:  The boys are fortunate to have gone to the same family!
No crying in the crate tonight due to homesickness
The above pictures demonstrate what our breeding program is about.  Samson and Springer have known nothing but love during their 9 1/2 short weeks of life.
Alexa was given to Margareta and her daughter Hanna (not pictured) to raise and love as their own.  Alexa came to Top Knotch for a "date" with Toot.
She then went back home with her humans Margareta and Hanna and waited out her pregnancy.    Alexa and Margareta returned to Top Knotch where she whelped her boys
on a busy Saturday afternoon.  The following day Margareta packed up the new mom and her pups and they returned to their home.  The boys have been raised in Margareta's home
until being welcomed to their new family.  This is a WIN WIN situation.  Alexa (our Sissy) lives with her forever family prior to and after her breeding career.  This is her second litter of
pups and after she has her third and final litter she will simply continue to live with her forever family.  We do not have to place and adult dog that is not socialized or housebroken
with a family.  She all ready is with her family.  WIN, WIN

Lyle went to live with Sean and Erin in Hawthorne, NJ where he will join Belle (Havanese)
6-23-09"Its been a great first weekend with your Lyle (our Bailey).  Thanks for putting the picture of us on the website.
I referred you to a co-worker who may be interested in a Yorkie/Morkie/Shorkie and he said he saw me up there.
Belle has not completely warmed up yet but it is clear that all Lyle/Bailey wants to do is play with his big sister.
To her credit, she is letting him get away with everything – barking at her, jumping on her, trying to chew on her tail, etc.
I am waiting for Belle to correct him but in the meantime I am handling the corrections myself!  See attached pics
that you may use if you like.  Thanks again"  Sean and Erin Powers

They have been here to visit her often and finally were able to take her home!!!!
They have promised to come back and puppy cuddle!!
"Hi Susan!   I am writing to tell you what an angel little Daisy is.  The entire family is madly in love with her! It has really been fun
to watch how my older dogs have adjusted to having her around, and have taught her what they will ,and will not, tolerate.
She is really a member of the pack!  She had her second vet visit a Parkway, and is now 5lbs.3oz. (Her vet is a young woman,
very sweet) Daisy has been very good using the litter pan...so much easier than crate training! Everyone who meets her wants to know
where I got her. I have given them your name. Molly and I am looking forward to visiting soon.  They are all so adorable!
Hope all is well with you and your family"...Betsy
